My Review:
This movie based on manga series "Marmalade Boy" which has been published from May 1992 to October 1995 in magazine Ribon.
Why I'm interested in this movie?
I've been watching Taiwanese version based on this manga.
It starred Stella Huang as Miki Koishikawa (Guang Xi)
and Ken Chu as Yuu Matsuura (Song Pu You)
Remember Ken Chu? Xi Men? Meteor Garden?
Ahhh, just remember the Taiwanese version that was cute.
So i'm just wondering for this one...

So, who's starring in this Japenese Movie?
Ryō Yoshizawa as Yūu Matsura
Hinako Sakurai as Miki Koishikawa
Suddenly divorced after going on vacation is a weird thing.
Swapping couples is also a weird.
But the biggest problem is when they decide to stay together.
Divorced parents and their new partner.
In one home!
Oh my!
They are weird person!
But not just that...
The weirdest thing,
Stepbrother. Same age. Good looking?
But why he looks homely?

Ok, the Japanese version is not comedy genre.
Their first meeting was very tense.
Renting a share-house and living together as 6 people.
Then when they live together,
Don't fall in love with him.
When people who make things complicated tell you not to make things complicated.
Oh please Miki's Mama, you who started it first.
You made it!
When you think you can be free of that family when you in the school
but suddenly...
You same school, same class with him.
your stepbrother.
But...
Miki: That doesn't have anything to do with me!
(Yūu Ex-Girlfriends)
And this Miki childhood friend,
Ginta Suō
A tennis ace who has feelings for Miki.
Also Miki close friend,
Meiko Akizuki
She falls in love with her English teacher.
With every conflict Miki faced.
Someone always gives her advise and support her from behind.
Miki stepbrother, Yūu.
You're actually super bitter yet everyone is fooled by
your seemly sweet exterior and haven't realized it.
You're a Marmalade boy.
Yūu always makes Miki happy and comfort her when she grieves.
He does not talk much, but his a kind person.
But behind it,
He also keeps his secrets and problems.
Yūu father, Yōji Matsuura is not his biological father.
And his mother Chiyako Matsura pregnant him with her ex-boyfriends,
who is the someone husband.
But that's just Yūu assumption.
When he knows about that, he really shocked.
He does not trust people anymore because
he doesn't know when they can betray him.
He always wonders if he should born or not.
He doesn't think he has a family.
Everything becomes unpleasant.
Even he be thankful for his mother because not aborting him and the father who raised him.
Then they fall in love.
And the happy moment...
Before he found this album...
and this picture
is make they family more complicated.
They related by blood.
is that true Yūu?
Without asking and making his own assumptions.
His own assumptions, again?
Again?
Oh please Yūu...
You make the things more complicated
without being honest.
He suffered on his own.
And they make their own way of life.
They go in different university and don't see each for a while.
Yūu with his own assumptions
and Miki who are still wondering why they parted.
I hate these things!
What is the ending of their love story?
Are they really siblings?
What will Yūu do for their love?
Can Miki accept the story behind their breakup?
So, what exactly happened between their parents?
The old history they have kept all this time?
Watch it guys for they ending.
You will know the end.

⭐⭐☆☆☆
First things this movie was not the cheesy-annoying kind at all,
like high school student love story.
The story line is quite serious and melodramatic
compared to Taiwanese version which is more comical.
But for me is still good.
But sometimes is a bit slow.
If you are huge fan of anime and manga.
Maybe have some part make you confusing.
And the surprise will not be for you.
But, please enjoy the movie.
Yeah, the self-cam... I think is quite nice.
And the soundtrack also.
Many fans quite impressed with Ryō Yoshizawa in this movie
than Hinako Sakurai.
But so far for me, this movie actually portrays the characters well.
It still touched of how they tried to keep their feelings and eventually fight for it.
Even though there was some misunderstanding between them.
At the end of the movie,
everything will make sense.
